Visual Tool Control (VTC)
What is it?
VTC uses bi-colour foam, usually black on top of a colour, with bespoke cavities for specific tools.
How does it work?
Using our Computer Aided Design (CAD) facility, each tool is individually designed into our tool library. A pre-production drawing layout is then supplied showing the exact position of each tool per drawer. This must be signed-off by the customer.
Once the finished pads are loaded with the tools, a visual inspection of each drawer will quickly tell if any hand tool is missing as a coloured cavity will show.
What are the features and benefits?
Tool Layout
The layout can be customer driven or you may rely on our expertise to develop an optimum design solution. Customer specific tools (i.e. specials) can of course be incorporated into your layout, we simply need to visit your facility to measure up these bespoke tools or borrow them from you briefly.
Controlled Access (Optional)
As well as complete individual tool control, access to the tool cabinet itself can be controlled by the implementation of Swipe Card, PIN or Proximity access.
Tool Control Foam
The foam we use for our VTC and ITC solutions is available in numerous colours to assist with the identification of a particular kit or indeed reflect a corporate identity. Coplan Tool Control Foam is a specific blend which has been developed for us by the World's leading manufacturer of polyethylene foams, importantly, it is resistant to Skydrol.
Cavity Identification
We can mark each cavity with tool part numbers or descriptions. This can be done by micro-routing the information or using Tool Identity Tags.
Hand Tool Identification
Hand tools can be identified to a particular kit by laser marking and/or by the use of colour coded sleeves.
Tool ID Tags
Tool Identification Tags can be used to identify specific cavities and assist the engineer to find the right tool for the job quickly.
They are available in a range of colours and can be custom made to your requirements.
They are secured into the surface of the foam.
Micro routing Essential Info
Each Tool Control Pad can be branded with your corporate logo or can be marked to show vital information by the use of our unique "Micro-routing" process.
The process renders the information indelible
Colour Coded Sleeving
Each hand tool can be covered with a colour sleeve identifying the tool to a particular kit.
In the offshore industry a yellow sleeve is used to highlight tools, which minimises the risk of accidents when tools are being used from height.
The process also offers protection against the tool damaging the paintwork of a vehicle and for this reason it is a method used by various automotive manufacturers on their assembly lines.
